I have always been athletic but found myself feeling static about my training. I had planned several goals this summer to try to change my fitness level but found myself feeling discouraged about my training and it seemed more of a chore than energizing me has it had in the past. Mike approached my fitness goal from a different level including core strength, weight training, interval training and flexibility. He also gave me expert advice on nutrition and cross training. This gave me the tools to break out of my "fitness rut" and move beyond just "going to the gym" to making my workouts count to fit my schedule and fitness goals. Since my sessions with Mike I have completed two half marathons and rode my bike to Vancouver. Mike thanks for the help and showing me fitness can once again be fun and not a chore.

Hi, my name is Nathan Edwards and I had a chance to work with Michael Christy before taking multiple physical tests (PARE) to qualify to be a police officer. Mike designed a program for me that helped me pass and exceed the test expectations. In January 2009 I was accepted into the Calgary Police recruit training and I owe a thanks to Mike for getting me started!

Michael Christy was our Personal Trainer for four months. During that time, we found him prompt, pleasant and knowledgeable. We noticed right away that Michael had a broad knowledge of a variety of different workout methods such as Yoga, and that he integrated them into our training. We found him patient and ready with good answers to our questions. His approach was professional and included an initial questionnaire and an interview to determine what our personal goals were.
We were really impressed with his ability to tailor his workouts to our individual needs. As an 'older' couple, we were initially concerned that he would push us too hard. Much to our delight, we found that he understood the aging body and he worked us hard but not so hard as to make us stiff and sore the next day. From the beginning, Michael introduced us to a variety of exercises and training aids that would ensure we had a full body workout and keep us motivated and interested. Michael seemed to know instinctively when to increase the work load and what would be the best exercises to challenge us.
We have noticed a definite increase in our physical abilities, our balance and our endurance. Michael trained and taught us routines that we could continue on our own, in our home or wherever we might be. We are 100% satisfied and we highly recommend Michael as a Personal Trainer.

Mike Christy is an excellent trainer. He takes great pride in what he does and treats his clients like family. I can testify to this as I have had other trainers in the past and they were not nearly as easy to deal with. This is one of the things most people would want in a personal trainer. He takes a look at your needs and work-out style, incorporates his own expertise into the mix. This in turn produces results and yet the client does not have to step out of his or her comfort zone. This made me look forward to our training sessions.
Through training with Mike, I learned correct form and proper nutrition. Before we started working out, I thought I knew a lot about fitness as I had been doing it for the past year. However, combined with all the core exercises and proper technique, I have gotten a lot stronger and healthier. He has this training technique called “intelligent muscle” where you don’t gain a bunch of weight but you do sustain the muscle and strength you have acquired for longer periods of time. It works.
I highly recommend Mike Christy to anyone looking to increase their strength and health. You will get the results you desire and do it while having fun. His knowledge will guide you as well as improve your life.

Hi Mike:
I don't know if you remember me but I trained with you briefly in November last year at Bodyfit. I still remember you as being instrumental in starting me on my journey and want to let you know of my success. I started at 162 lbs and now I am down to 133. Body fat has gone from 39.9% to 27%. I feel fantastic and have so much more energy than before. Once again, I just wanted to acknowledge the people that helped me to achieve my success.
-Thanks, Leslie
Our fifteen year old son started training with Mike in April 07. His goal was to become bigger and stronger for the upcoming hockey season. On our initial meeting with Mike, he explained to us and our son, James, what he felt he could do to help improve James’ overall fitness level and make him more effective in net. Even on our first meeting with Mike, we found him to be positive and approachable.
Now, three months later, we are so impressed with the changes that have taken place with James. His skating is so much quicker and steady. The goalie coaches have always said that James does not hold his glove hand high enough. When I watched him play the other day I noticed his glove had up. When I asked him about this, he said his arms feel so much stronger. He is getting up off the ice quicker and is able to come out of the net farther because he is able to get back in the net faster. The biggest improvement so far, however is his confidence. James feels stronger and bigger and his confidence is definitely showing in his game. During the last three months, Mike has also taken the time to discuss a healthy diet with James, which might help him put on some much needed weight. We are all pleased to say that he has put on nearly ten pounds since he has started with Mike.
Last but not least, James feels he has found a friend in Mike. Because he played hockey at one time himself, Mike can relate to what James goes through emotionally and physically. Mike is always smiling and extremely positive. James is always happy to go for a session and really does listen to any advice Mike gives. He has found a “like” for yoga and is more motivated than ever to work hard for what he wants to achieve.
We do not know if James will make the team of his dreams in the fall, but we do know what working with Mike has given him the fighting chance that he needed. Whether James makes the team or not, he will continue to have sessions with Mike because he just loves going to the gym. It is now a place that he feels comfortable to go, even on his own time, and every fifteen year old boy needs a place like that. Mike has shown him how to work hard and be healthy, and that kind of advice and motivation is invaluable.
Yours sincerely,
-Doug, Julie and James Payette
